Darren Grimley (vocals, guitar) Hailing from Dundalk but settled in Kinsale, Darren is the main songwriting force behind Virgil Kane.

Sonny Greenwich Jr (mandolin) Darren’s songwriting partner Sonny is originally from Canada where he formed seminal band Bootsauce.

Mick Creedon (bass) Late of great bands The Bleedin’ Blues and Weeds White and Wine.

Alan Murray (guitar) The master slinger from Scotland was the late great Noel Redding’s guitar picker.

David Jones (drums) Is from the incredible Cajun band Two Time Polka.








“Kinsale talent Virgil Kane have released their long awaited debut album. The band describe their style of music as americana and country. Their original songs are reminiscent of such bands as CSNY and the Band.

Virgil Kane have been rocking County Cork as cover band Crazy Chester for some time now, as all you Johnny Cash, Neil Young and Bob Dylan fans will already be well aware.

The album was produced by Canadian rock singer, Jeff Martin (formerly of the Tea Party) in the idyllic setting of his west Cork recording studio. The recording took place in stages between Jeff’s international tours over the last six months.

Virigil Kane’s eponymous album is available to buy from Muddy Mahers in Kinsale and at Virgil Kane gigs, online from their website and will also available to download from itunes.

The members of Virgil Kane perform in and around Kinsale under various names: as two-piece, Grimley Greenwich, at the Bulman on Thursdays and as three-piece, Sonny & Friends, at the Blue Haven on Tuesdays.”
